10 A boost converter with AEC-Q100 grade
The TPS61088QRHLRQ1: It accepts an input from 2.7 V to 12 V and delivers an adjustable output up to 12.6 V, with the switching frequency programmable between 200 kHz and 2.2 MHz.
Switching frequency and output current — thermal design anchor
The 10 A output rating is the headline thermal and layout constraint. At high switching frequencies (up to 2.2 MHz), inductor ripple and core losses increase, so the designer selects the frequency to balance efficiency against external component size. The synchronous rectifier integrated on-chip reduces the Schottky diode forward-drop loss, which is critical for maintaining efficiency at the 10 A load. The adjustable output range from 4.5 V up to 12.6 V covers common automotive rails like 5 V and 12 V. The positive output configuration and single-channel topology simplify the feedback loop compensation.
Automotive temperature range and package
The 20-VFQFN exposed pad (3.5x4.5 mm) requires a thermal land pattern on the PCB to sink heat from the power stage; the datasheet layout guidance for the exposed pad is mandatory for full 10 A operation at elevated ambient.
