In a typical 3.3 V output from a 3.0 V input, that delivers roughly 300–350 mA to the load before the switch cycle-by-cycle current limit engages — enough to power a small sensor node, a Bluetooth module, or a CODEC. The synchronous rectifier replaces the usual Schottky output diode with a low-side FET, which lifts efficiency into the mid-80s at light loads and eliminates the diode's forward-voltage drop at higher output currents.
SOT-23-6 package — layout and thermal notes
The TPS61071DDCR comes in a thin SOT-23-6 (TSOT-23-6) package with a 0.95 mm pitch. Route the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the IC pins; the 1.2 MHz switching edges couple into the feedback trace if the layout is loose.
