Boost regulator for camera flash — 2 MHz, 500 mA
The TPS61055YZGR is a DC DC step-up (boost) regulator from Texas Instruments, purpose-built for driving a single LED in camera flash and general lighting applications. It integrates the switching FET internally, so the BOM stays tight — just the inductor, input/output caps, and the LED itself. The 500 mA flash output is rated for the pulse current needed to drive a high-brightness LED during capture.
PWM dimming and supply range
Dimming is handled via PWM, which is the standard interface for camera flash controllers and application processors. Output voltage is regulated to 5.5 V maximum, which is the typical forward voltage ceiling for a series-connected flash LED. The single-output topology means one LED per driver — if the design needs multiple LEDs, each gets its own TPS61055.
Package and temperature — field-fit check
It comes in a 12-pin DSBGA (12-DSBGA) package — that is a 0.4 mm pitch wafer-level chip-scale package. No lab bench needed for rework if you have a hot-air station with a fine nozzle, but the tiny bumps mean the board must have a soldermask-defined pad pattern.
