Product details

Boost regulator built for camera flash — 1.2 A peak, PWM dimming

It delivers up to 1.2 A flash current from a single-cell Li-ion battery or 2.5 V to 6 V rail, with the output regulated at 5.5 V. PWM dimming control lets the host processor set flash intensity on the fly — critical for synchronising with the camera shutter and ambient light sensor feedback loop.

2 MHz switching — small inductor, tight layout

The 2 MHz switching frequency keeps the inductor in the 1 µH to 2.2 µH range, which fits a 0805 or smaller footprint. That matters when the flash module shares a flex or a tight PCB edge with the camera module. The internal switch (yes) eliminates the external MOSFET and its gate-drive loop — one less component to route under the VSON exposed pad.

Package and thermal — 10-VSON with exposed pad

Housed in a 10-VSON exposed-pad package (3x3 mm). Surface-mount only — no socket option.

Temperature range and operating conditions

Supply range is 2.5 V minimum to 6 V maximum — works from a single Li-ion cell (3.0 V to 4.2 V) or a 5 V USB rail. The 5.5 V output is the regulated flash voltage, not the input.

It is current production from Texas Instruments and available through independent distribution.

Frequently asked questions

Is TPS61052DRCR compatible with camera flash applications?

Yes — the TPS61052DRCR is explicitly listed for camera flash applications. Its 1.2 A flash current, PWM dimming, and 2 MHz switching frequency are tailored to drive high-brightness LEDs in synchronised flash modules.
