Boost regulator for small-format LED backlights
PWM dimming control is integrated, allowing the LED brightness to be adjusted directly via a logic-level PWM signal without an external MOSFET.
1 MHz switching frequency and output voltage ceiling
The 1 MHz switching frequency lets the designer use a 4.7 µH to 10 µH inductor in a small 0805 or 1210 footprint, keeping the total solution area under 30 mm² including input and output capacitors. The 28 V output rating sets the maximum LED string voltage — if your backlight needs 30 V or more, step up to the TPS61042 or a SEPIC topology instead.
Package, footprint, and thermal pad
The exposed pad is the ground return for the switch current; keep the trace from the SW pin to the inductor short and wide to minimize ringing at 1 MHz.
