Fixed 2.8V boost for single-cell battery rails
The TPS61014DGS is a fixed-output step-up (boost) DC-DC converter from Texas Instruments, delivering a regulated 2.8V from an input as low as 0.8V. It targets battery-powered equipment — think two AA cells or a single Li-ion near end-of-discharge — where you need a stable 2.8V rail for a sensor, MCU, or RF stage. Synchronous rectification keeps efficiency up at moderate loads, which matters when every milliwatt counts from a battery.
Input range and output ceiling
Minimum input voltage is 0.8V, maximum is 2.8V. That 2.8V ceiling on the input side is the same as the output voltage — this part is designed for a narrow-ratio boost, not for generating a 5V rail from a 1.5V cell. The output is fixed at 2.8V; there is no adjust pin, so the BOM voltage is locked at that value. The single output is positive, and the 950 mA switch current sets the practical load limit. For a 2.8V output at, say, 3.3V input (not applicable here since Vin max is 2.8V), derate for the boost ratio — but in this part's operating range the switch current is the hard ceiling.
Housed in a 10-VSSOP (the DGS suffix), which is the 10-lead MSOP with 0.50 mm pitch. Not AEC-Q100 qualified, so keep it out of under-hood automotive designs.
