Boost converter for single-cell battery designs
It accepts an input voltage from 0.8 V up to 3.3 V and delivers an adjustable output from 1.5 V to 3.3 V via a single 1.3 A integrated switch at a fixed 500 kHz switching frequency.
Input range and output capability
The 0.8 V minimum input lets the converter start from a nearly depleted single-cell alkaline or NiMH battery, while the 3.3 V maximum input covers the full range of a single Li-ion cell. The 1.3 A switch current limit sets the practical output power — at 3.3 V out, expect around 400 mA continuous from a 1.5 V input, derated for efficiency and inductor losses. Switching at 500 kHz keeps the external inductor in the 4.7 µH to 22 µH range, small enough for portable and space-constrained designs. The non-synchronous topology means an external Schottky diode is needed for the rectification path.
Temperature grade and packaging
The 10-VSSOP package (3.00 mm × 3.00 mm body) is a compact footprint for two-layer boards; the 0.50 mm pitch demands careful solder-paste stencil design to avoid bridging.
