3 A buck regulator with 570 kHz switching and 150°C junction rating
The Texas Instruments TPS54331DDA is a 3 A step-down buck regulator in the Eco-Mode™ series, designed for converting 3.5 V to 28 V input rails down to an adjustable output from 0.8 V to 25 V.
Adjustable output and non-synchronous topology
The output is adjustable via an external resistor divider, with a 0.8 V reference. The non-synchronous rectifier (external Schottky diode required) keeps the BOM simple and avoids the shoot-through risk of a synchronous FET. The 570 kHz switching frequency lets you use a smaller inductor than a 300 kHz design, but the switching losses in the internal FET rise with frequency; the trade-off favours the 570 kHz for most 12 V to 5 V or 3.3 V conversions.
