3 A step-down, 570 kHz — the switching regulator for non-isolated rails
The Texas Instruments TPS54331D is a 3 A adjustable step-down (buck) regulator in an 8-SOIC package, part of the Eco-Mode™ series. It takes a 3.5 V to 28 V input and delivers a regulated output down to 0.8 V, switching at 570 kHz.
Junction temperature range and package — board-fit for industrial power
The 8-SOIC (SOIC-8) footprint with 1.27 mm pitch is a standard surface-mount package — the copper pad area under the die sets the thermal resistance, so the PCB layout should allocate adequate copper for heat spreading. It is not a synchronous rectifier design (no internal low-side FET), which means an external Schottky catch diode is required in the typical application circuit. The 570 kHz switching frequency allows small inductor and capacitor values while keeping switching losses manageable.
