What the 170 ms reset timeout buys you
The TPS3851H33EDRBR asserts a reset output for at least 170 ms after the monitored 3.3V rail crosses the threshold. That window gives the downstream SoC, FPGA, or DSP time to finish its power-on-reset sequence before the core logic starts executing code. If your processor boots faster than the supply settles, you risk a brown-out or metastable state on the first instruction fetch.
Active-low open-drain output — wiring flexibility
The open-drain output lets you pull the reset line up to any voltage within the device's absolute maximum rating, independent of the monitored rail. That means you can interface a 3.3V supervisor to a 1.8V or 2.5V reset input on the processor without a level shifter. It also allows multiple open-drain supervisors to share a common reset bus through a single pull-up resistor.
Temperature range and package — where it fits on the board
The 8-VDFN package with exposed pad (8-SON 3x3 mm) needs a thermal land pattern on the PCB to pull heat into the ground plane. Without it, the junction temperature rise under continuous operation can exceed the rated limit.
