Battery backup supervisor for harsh-environment designs
It is designed for systems where the supply must be supervised during battery-to-main-power transitions, with an active-low push-pull output that drives the reset input of an MCU, FPGA, or DSP directly without an external pull-up resistor.
The 2.93V threshold is set for monitoring a 3.3V nominal supply rail. When the monitored voltage falls below 2.93V, the reset output goes active low and holds for a minimum of 60ms after the supply recovers above the threshold. This 60ms timeout gives the regulated supply time to stabilise before the supervised device is released from reset — long enough for most linear regulators and DC-DC converters to settle after a brownout or battery swap. The push-pull output eliminates the external pull-up resistor that an open-drain supervisor would need, saving one component per rail and simplifying the BOM for dense boards. The active-low polarity matches the reset input of the majority of ARM Cortex-M and other MCUs.
