Three-rail supervisor in a through-hole DIP
The TPS3510P is a multi-voltage supervisor from Texas Instruments that monitors three supply rails: 3.3V, 5V, and 12V. It asserts an active low reset signal via an open-drain output when any monitored voltage falls below its threshold. The reset stays low for a minimum of 200ms after all rails return to tolerance. This part is commonly used in ATX power supplies, industrial controllers, and any multi-rail system needing a single-chip power-good watchdog.
Thresholds, timeout, and temperature range
The three monitored thresholds — 3.3V, 5V, and 12V — cover the standard logic and power rails in a typical ATX or embedded system. The 200ms minimum reset timeout gives downstream ICs time to stabilise after a brownout or power-up. Compared to single-voltage supervisors like the TLV803 series (surface-mount, single rail), the TPS3510P packs three thresholds into one DIP, saving board space and reducing BOM count for multi-rail designs.
It is ROHS3 compliant, meeting current environmental regulations for European and global markets.
The 8-DIP package (0.300-inch row spacing, 7.62mm body width) is a through-hole format. It mounts into a standard 0.100-inch pitch DIP socket or solders directly into plated through-holes. The through-hole construction is forgiving under a hot-air station — the leads absorb heat without stressing the die, and the package can be removed cleanly with a solder sucker or desoldering braid. No exposed thermal pad means the part relies on the copper traces and ambient airflow for cooling. In a still-air environment at 85°C, ensure the DIP socket or solder joints have adequate clearance for convection.
