Three-rail voltage supervisor in 8-SOIC
The TPS3510DR is a three-channel multi-voltage supervisor from Texas Instruments that monitors 3.3V, 5V, and 12V rails simultaneously — a single 8-SOIC package replaces three separate reset ICs or a discrete comparator bank. The active-low open-drain output asserts when any monitored rail drops below its threshold, and holds reset for a minimum of 200 ms after all rails recover. That timeout window gives downstream converters and oscillators time to stabilise before the system processor boots.
Monitoring three rails with one IC
The three voltage thresholds — 3.3V, 5V, and 12V — are fixed internal references; no external resistor dividers are needed. The open-drain output lets multiple supervisors share a common pull-up to a logic rail, which is useful on boards where a single fault should assert a global reset. The 8-SOIC footprint (3.90 mm body width) fits a standard 0.050-inch pitch layout and routes easily on a two-layer board. Compared to a single-channel reset IC like the TLV803EA29VDBZR, the TPS3510DR adds two more monitored rails in the same package area — a density advantage when the BOM already has three voltage domains. For a triple-output power supply or a motherboard with 12V, 5V, and 3.3V, the TPS3510DR is the more efficient fit.
