5V rail protection at 5A continuous
The TPS259251DRCR is an electronic fuse (eFuse) from Texas Instruments designed to protect a 5V power rail. It delivers a continuous 5A output and integrates a back-to-back FET driver that replaces a discrete hot-swap controller and series MOSFET. The input voltage range is 4.5V to 5.5V — this is a narrow 5V ±10% bus part. It will not work on 12V, 24V, or wide-input industrial rails. Confirm your rail voltage fits before placing the BOM line.
Current-limit accuracy and temperature envelope
The current-limit accuracy is ±15%. That means a 5A design target must set the limit resistor for roughly 5.75A to guarantee 5A at the low end of the tolerance band. This is looser than precision eFuses like the TPS26621 (±5%), but acceptable for general-purpose 5V distribution where the load current is not marginal. The part is not rated for 125°C automotive or extended-industrial environments — the TPS26621 and TPS26610 both offer 125°C capability if the ambient exceeds 85°C.
