High-side switch for USB and general-purpose power rails
The switch is enabled by a logic-level On/Off input (non-inverting) and requires no separate Vcc supply — the gate drive is derived from the load voltage.
Protection set and fault flag
Fault protection includes adjustable current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO). The current limit is set with an external resistor, allowing the designer to tailor the trip point to the downstream load — useful for USB ports where the limit must comply with 0.5 A (USB 2.0) or 1.5 A (USB 3.0) per port. A status flag output signals over-current or over-temperature events, which a host controller can read to manage the fault.
Package and thermal: 6-WSON with exposed pad
The TPS2553DRVR is supplied in a 6-pin WDFN with exposed pad (6-WSON, 2 mm x 2 mm body). The small footprint makes it suitable for space-constrained designs like USB hubs, portable docks, and battery-powered equipment.
