1.5 A in a SOT-23-6 — thermal budget is the real limit
The 85 mOhm typical Rds(on) at 1.5 A yields a ~190 mW dissipation floor — well within the SOT-23-6 package's capability at moderate ambient, but the designer must account for the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance when pushing the full 1.5 A at elevated temperatures.
Adjustable current limit with fault flag
A precision resistor from the ILIM pin to GND sets the overcurrent threshold — no external logic supply needed, since Vcc/Vdd is not required. The switch enters constant-current mode when the load exceeds the limit, pulling the open-drain fault flag low. Over-temperature shutdown and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) complete the protection suite. The slew-rate controlled turn-on prevents inrush current from tripping the upstream supply or causing bus voltage droop on capacitive loads — a common pain point in hot-plug and USB port designs.
