1.5 A high-side switch with adjustable current limit
The 100 mOhm typical Rds(on) keeps conduction losses low at rated current — at 1 A the voltage drop is roughly 100 mV, which matters for 3.3 V rails where headroom is tight. The slew-rate controlled turn-on limits inrush current into capacitive loads, preventing upstream supply droop.
Fault protection set for the application
The TPS2552DRVR integrates adjustable current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and under-voltage lockout. The current limit is set with a single external resistor — the designer chooses the trip point between the minimum load current and the 1.5 A maximum, which allows fine-tuning for USB ports (typically 0.5 A or 1.5 A) or other loads without over-specifying the switch. The status flag output (open-drain, active low) asserts when the switch is in current-limit or thermal-shutdown, giving the system controller a direct fault indication. The non-inverting On/Off interface accepts logic-level control from a GPIO.
The base product number TPS2552 spans several output-current and package variants; the DRVR suffix identifies the 6-WSON package on a 3000-unit reel.
