4.4 mOhm on-resistance — the number that sets the thermal budget
The TPS22962DNYR is a single-channel, high-side load switch from TI with a typical Rds(on) of 4.4 mOhm. At 10 A continuous output, that 4.4 mOhm produces about 0.44 W of I²R loss — manageable in the 8-WSON with exposed pad if the PCB copper pours enough heat away.
The slew-rate controlled turn-on limits inrush current into capacitive loads, which keeps the upstream supply from drooping and prevents false resets on the rail. The load discharge feature pulls the output down when the switch is off — no floating output hanging around after the enable goes low. Both are built in, no external RC needed.
Package and footprint — 8-WSON with exposed pad
That pad is the primary heat path; without it the junction temperature rises fast at 10 A. The part is surface-mount, so rework on site is possible with a hot-air station, but the exposed pad makes hand-soldering tricky without a preheater.
