The TPS22958DGKR is a single-channel, high-side load switch from Texas Instruments rated for a continuous output current of 4 A. Its typical on-resistance of 14 mOhm sets the conduction loss: at 4 A the I²R dissipation is roughly 224 mW, which the 8-VSSOP package can handle with adequate PCB copper pour.
Load discharge and slew rate — sequencing and inrush control
Two integrated features save external components. The load discharge circuit pulls the output to ground through an internal resistor when the switch is disabled, preventing the output from floating. The slew rate control limits the turn-on ramp, reducing inrush current into capacitive loads — useful when the downstream rail has bulk decoupling or a large capacitor bank.
It does not carry AEC-Q100 qualification, so it is not specified for automotive under-hood or chassis domains. The 8-VSSOP package (3.00 mm × 3.00 mm body, 0.65 mm pitch) is a surface-mount footprint that routes easily on a two-layer board for the power path.
