Single-channel high-side load switch for 1–5.5 V rails
The TPS22916CYFPT is a single-channel P-channel MOSFET load switch from Texas Instruments, designed for general-purpose power-domain switching. It delivers up to 2 A continuous output with a typical on-resistance of 200 mOhm, making it suitable for moderate-current rail switching in portable and industrial systems. The high-side configuration with a 1:1 input-to-output ratio means the switch passes the input voltage directly to the load when enabled. Built-in slew rate control limits inrush current during turn-on, preventing input rail droop when driving capacitive loads. Reverse current protection blocks current flow from output back to input when the switch is off, a useful safeguard against backfeeding from a charged output capacitor or a secondary supply.
Parametric fit: Rds(on), current, and supply margins
The 200 mOhm typical Rds(on) sets the conduction loss at 2 A to I²R = 0.8 W, which the 4-DSBGA package must dissipate. The 1 V minimum supply voltage allows operation on 1.2 V and 1.0 V rails, though the Rds(on) will increase at lower Vgs — the datasheet typical curve should be consulted for the actual on-resistance at the intended supply. The 5.5 V maximum limits use to 5 V rails with margin; a 12 V system needs a different switch.
Active production — no end-of-life signals
ROHS3 compliance is confirmed. No official second-source or pin-compatible alternative is listed by TI, so the BOM carries single-source risk for this exact footprint.
