PCMCIA slot power distribution — one chip per slot
The Texas Instruments TPS2223ADB is a dedicated PCMCIA power switch that manages the four supply rails of a single PCMCIA/CardBus slot. It integrates four high-side outputs rated at 1 A each, with a typical on-resistance of 95 mOhm per channel. A serial interface handles output configuration and status readback, while the integrated Status Flag pin reports fault conditions (overcurrent or overtemperature) to the host controller without polling.
At 1 A per output, the 95 mOhm typical Rds(on) yields ~95 mW dissipation per channel. With all four outputs loaded, the total die dissipation is ~380 mW — manageable in the 24-SSOP package provided the board has adequate copper for heat spreading. The fixed current-limiting threshold (no external sense resistor) protects the PCMCIA card and host wiring against shorts; the over-temperature shutdown catches thermal runaway if the die exceeds the safe junction limit.
The supplier device package is 24-SSOP. Tube shipping is the default; if your pick-and-place feeder requires Tape & Reel, confirm the reel option with your distributor at quote time.
