Dual-supply redundancy in a 3×3 mm SON
The TPS2115ADRBT is a 2:1 source selector switch that automatically connects the higher-priority input to the output, handling a continuous 2A load from a 2.8V to 5.5V supply rail. Its 55 µA quiescent current keeps the battery drain low in handheld and mobile devices. The internal N-channel FETs eliminate the need for external OR-ing diodes, saving board area and reducing forward voltage drop.
On/off timing and load budget
Turn-on delay is 1 ms typical; turn-off takes 5 ms typical. This hysteresis prevents chatter during supply transitions and gives the downstream regulator time to stabilize. The 2A output ceiling sets the practical load at 1.6–1.8 A after derating for ambient temperature and PCB copper area under the exposed pad.
