The current limit threshold is set by an external resistor — you size it to the load wire gauge and the PCB trace ampacity, not the switch's own 10 A ceiling. Over-temperature protection trips the output if the die exceeds the safe junction limit, which matters during a stalled-motor or short-to-ground event. The slew-rate controlled switching reduces radiated emissions on the load edge, a common concern in 12 V automotive power distribution.
