70 A peak — inrush, not steady-state
The 70 A maximum output rating is a pulse-capability figure for lamp inrush, motor start, or capacitive load charging. The part's current-limiting protection is adjustable, so you set the threshold above the steady-state load but below the 70 A ceiling.
