Automotive high-side switch with 80 mOhm Rds(on)
It integrates an N-channel MOSFET with a typical on-resistance of 80 mOhm, capable of delivering up to 4 A to the load across a supply range of 5 V to 40 V. The 80 mOhm Rds(on) at 25°C sets the conduction loss floor — at 4 A the I²R dissipation is roughly 1.28 W, which the 14-HTSSOP exposed-pad package must sink to the PCB copper plane.
The TPS1H100AQPWPRQ1 includes adjustable current limiting, open-load detection, overtemperature shutdown, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO). These protections address the common failure modes in automotive loads: shorted solenoids, broken lamp filaments, and thermal runaway from stalled motors. The adjustable current limit lets the designer set the trip threshold below the 4 A maximum to protect the load and wiring, while the open-load detect flags a disconnected harness. The UVLO prevents the switch from operating below the minimum supply voltage, avoiding partial turn-on and excessive dissipation.
14-HTSSOP package and thermal management
Without adequate copper area, the junction temperature will exceed the 125°C rating at full load.
