8-bit shift register with open-drain outputs for industrial loads
The TPIC6A595DWR is an 8-bit shift register from the TPIC series, designed for serial-to-parallel conversion with open-drain outputs rated for 4.5 V to 5.5 V supply. Each of the eight bits can sink current directly — no external driver needed for small relays, LEDs, or logic-level loads. The package is a 24-SOIC (0.295" body width) for surface-mount assembly.
Open-drain outputs — why they matter for the BOM
Open-drain outputs let you wire multiple outputs to a common pull-up for wired-OR logic, or shift voltage levels by pulling up to a different rail. The 8-bit parallel output can drive loads directly up to the package's current limit, saving a separate driver IC on the BOM. For a panel-builder wiring a bank of indicator LEDs or a set of solid-state relays, this one chip replaces a shift register plus a Darlington array.
