8V clamp — the rail it holds
The TPD6S300ARUKR clamps the protected line to 8V during an overvoltage event. That 8V ceiling is the number you budget for the downstream controller's absolute-max rating — if the CC pin on your USB-C port controller is rated for 6V absolute max, this part won't save it. The internal switch technology means the protection element is integrated, not a separate TVS diode you place alongside.
