Rail-to-rail steering for Ethernet PHY lines
Its primary application is Ethernet port protection, where it shunts ESD strikes on the magnetics side before they reach the PHY. Each channel is unidirectional, with a reverse standoff voltage of 5.5 V max and a breakdown minimum of 6.5 V — matching the common-mode voltage range of 10/100/1000BASE-T interfaces.
85 W peak pulse — what it buys you
Peak pulse power is rated at 85 W, with a clamping voltage of 12.4 V typ at a peak pulse current of 5.5 A (8/20 µs waveform). That clamping ceiling keeps the PHY-side voltage below the absolute maximum of most Ethernet transceivers during a 1 kV contact-discharge ESD event. Power line protection is built in — the steering diodes rail the transient to the supply and ground rails, so the part does not need a separate TVS on the Vcc line.
SOT-553 footprint and temperature range
Housed in a SOT-553 package (supplier device package SOT-5), the part occupies roughly 1.6 mm × 1.6 mm of board area — small enough to place directly behind the RJ45 connector on a compact Ethernet switch or IoT gateway PCB.
