0.5 pF capacitance — why it matters on HDMI lanes
Its 0.5 pF capacitance at 1 MHz is the headline number that decides fit for high-speed differential pairs: any added capacitance eats into the signal eye opening, and at HDMI 2.0 data rates (6 Gbps per lane) even 0.2 pF extra can close the margin. This part keeps the load low enough that it won't force a retimer or redriver in most HDMI 2.0 port designs.
The reverse standoff voltage is 3.6 V max, and clamping hits 8.9 V at the peak pulse current of 2.5 A (8/20 µs waveform). Peak pulse power is rated 16 W. For HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 source/sink protection, the 3.6 V standoff sits above the 3.3 V supply rail so the diode doesn't conduct during normal operation, but triggers fast enough to shunt a ±8 kV contact discharge (per IEC 61000-4-2) before the downstream IC sees damaging voltage. The 16 W rating is modest — it's sized for cable-discharge events, not direct lightning strikes.
The 0201 (0603 Metric) footprint — supplier device package 2-X2SON (0.6x0.3) — places the diode right at the HDMI connector pin, minimising stub inductance. Surface-mount assembly; the tape-and-reel or cut-tape option suits both prototype and volume pick-and-place.
