What the 700 mW rating means for your BOM
The TPA701D delivers 700 mW continuous into an 8 Ω load from a single channel — enough for a headphone driver or a small speaker in a portable instrument, alarm, or voice-annunciator circuit. That power figure is the maximum before clipping at the specified supply and load; the actual SPL depends on the speaker sensitivity and enclosure. The Class AB topology keeps crossover distortion low across the output swing — typical for voice and tone reproduction where THD matters more than efficiency.
No special thermal pad; the die's power dissipation is handled through the leadframe and copper traces. The part is not AEC-Q100 graded, so it is not qualified for under-hood automotive use, but it fits in cabin infotainment or aftermarket modules where the ambient stays below 85 °C.
It is ROHS3 compliant, so it meets the current EU restriction levels for lead and other substances. Supplied in Tube (standard SOIC-8 shipping format). The protection features — short-circuit and thermal protection, plus a shutdown pin — make it a straightforward drop-in for designs that already use the SOIC footprint.
