Class G efficiency with I²C volume control
The TPA6140A2YFFT is a Class G stereo headphone amplifier from the Texas Instruments DirectPath™ series, delivering 32 mW per channel into a 32 Ω load. Class G topology uses a dual-supply rail to reduce power dissipation at lower output levels — the amplifier switches between rails only when the signal demands it, so battery-powered devices see less thermal loss than a fixed Class AB stage.
Feature set for portable audio integration
On-chip features include differential inputs, I²C-controlled volume, mute, depop circuitry, and short-circuit and thermal protection. The depop circuit suppresses turn-on/turn-off clicks without external timing capacitors — a common pain point in headphone amplifier designs. The output drives stereo headphones (2-channel) directly. The 16-DSBGA package (1.56 mm × 1.56 mm) suits space-constrained PCBs in smartphones, tablets, and portable audio modules.
