700 mW mono amplifier for portable audio
The TPA311DGN: The output is a single channel (mono), so a stereo application requires two devices. The 700 mW figure is the max output per channel into 8 Ohm; at lower impedance the output current limit governs the available swing.
Protection set and temperature grade
Built-in depop circuitry suppresses turn-on/turn-off clicks — no external mute transistor needed in the audio path. Short-circuit and thermal protection shut the output stage before the die exceeds the safe junction temperature, which matters when the amplifier drives a speaker that may be shorted during assembly or field use.
Supplied in an 8-pin HVSSOP with exposed pad (MSOP-8 / TSSOP-8 footprint, 3.00 mm width). Shipped in tube format, not tape-and-reel.
ROHS3 compliant per the current declaration, so it passes the EU RoHS threshold for the ten restricted substances including the four phthalates. Because it is active and single-sourced from TI, the BOM risk is low as long as the part stays in the catalog. No pin-compatible second source is published; if a hedge is needed, the parametric equivalent from the same family (different package or output power) is the usual fallback.
