What this Class D amp delivers — and where it fits
The Texas Instruments TPA3110D2PWP is a Class D stereo audio amplifier rated for 15W per channel into an 8Ω load. That output level suits it for powered speakers, soundbars, automotive audio head units, and portable PA systems where battery or 12V rail efficiency matters. The SpeakerGuard™ series includes adjustable gain limiting and DC detection to keep the speaker cone from over-travel on a clipped signal — a practical safeguard for single-supply designs that don't have a dedicated protection controller. Supply range spans 8V to 26V. The -40°C to 85°C ambient temperature grade covers outdoor telecom cabinets and engine-bay audio.
Key ratings and what they mean for the BOM
15W x 2 into 8Ω is the rated output. The 8V minimum supply allows operation from a 12V battery at end-of-discharge. Differential inputs reject ground-loop noise common in multi-board audio chains. Short-circuit and thermal protection are built in — no external crowbar or over-temp sense needed. The Shutdown pin lets a microcontroller put the amp into low-power idle when no audio is present, saving battery in portable gear.
Package and mounting
The 28-HTSSOP (PowerTSSOP) package has an exposed thermal pad on the bottom. That pad must be soldered to a copper plane on the PCB for the 15W output to be sustainable — without it, the thermal protection will trip at lower power. The 0.173-inch body width fits standard SOIC-28 footprints with a thermal land pattern. Surface-mount only; no through-hole variant exists.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
The TPA3110D2PWP is listed as Active in production. No last-time-buy notice or obsolescence date is available. ROHS3 compliant.
