Mono Class D amplifier in a 0.4 mm-pitch DSBGA
The TPA2032D1YZFT is a 2.75 W mono Class D audio amplifier from Texas Instruments' NanoFree™ series, housed in a 9-bump DSBGA package. The 0.4 mm ball pitch and 0.5 mm seated height demand a controlled solder-paste stencil and a tight reflow profile — the board's pad geometry and solder mask must match the TI layout recommendation to avoid head-in-pillow opens on the outer row.
Rated 2.75 W continuous into a 4 Ω load from a 5 V supply, the output power drops with the supply voltage — at 3.6 V the available swing into the same load is roughly 1.4 W. Differential inputs reject common-mode noise picked up on the audio traces between the codec and the amplifier — useful when the amp sits on a separate board or the ground plane is split. The depop circuit ramps the output bias voltage slowly at startup, suppressing the audible thump that otherwise couples through the speaker. Short-circuit and thermal protection are built in — the amplifier shuts down on a direct output short or when the die temperature exceeds the thermal limit, then auto-recovers when the fault clears. The shutdown pin pulls the supply current below 1 µA for power-sensitive designs.
The DSBGA package's thermal resistance is dominated by the PCB copper area under the device — a 2-layer board with a thermal via array under the die pad keeps the junction temperature within the operating range at full output.
