I²C volume control and protection features
The I²C interface allows the host processor to adjust gain in software — no external potentiometer or mechanical volume knob. The part also includes short-circuit and thermal protection, plus a dedicated shutdown pin for low-power standby. These features reduce external component count and improve system reliability in portable products where speaker leads can get shorted during assembly or use.
Not a hand-solder part. The small footprint frees board area for battery or other passives, but the BGA layout demands a multi-layer PCB with via-in-pad or microvias for routing the thermal and power pads.
The TPA2026D2YZHR is an active, in-production part per TI's lifecycle status. ROHS3 compliant.
