Class D mono amp for portable gear — what you need to know
The TPA2025D1YZGT is a single-channel Class D audio amplifier from Texas Instruments, delivering 2.28 W into a 4 Ω load from a 2.5 V to 5.2 V supply. That output is enough for a small speaker in a Bluetooth speaker, a portable radio, or a battery-powered alarm — not a PA system, but plenty for a personal device. The differential inputs help reject ground noise when the amp is fed from a codec or a headphone jack on a long trace. It comes in a 12-DSBGA package, surface-mount only. The -40°C to 85°C temperature range covers industrial and outdoor use.
Protection features that matter in the field
Short-circuit and thermal protection are built in. If a speaker wire gets pinched or the amp is driven into a dead short, the output stage shuts down instead of letting the magic smoke out. Thermal protection means it can survive a stalled fan or a hot enclosure — useful when the amp is buried inside a sealed product with no airflow.
