2W mono Class D amplifier for portable and industrial audio
The Texas Instruments TPA2000D1PWR is a mono Class D audio power amplifier delivering 2W into a 4Ω load from a 2.7V to 5.5V supply. Differential inputs reject ground-loop noise on long signal runs, and the depop circuit suppresses the startup thump that otherwise annoys in proximity-sensing or alarm applications. Short-circuit protection on the output stage saves the amp if the speaker wire gets pinched during assembly or field service.
The 2.7V to 5.5V supply window covers a single-cell Li-ion battery (3.0V to 4.2V) and a regulated 5V USB rail without a boost converter. At the low end, 2.7V is enough headroom for the output stage to deliver useful power into 4Ω, though the full 2W rating is specified at the higher supply voltages.
Package and footprint — 16-TSSOP
Housed in a 16-TSSOP package (4.40mm body width), the TPA2000D1PWR fits on compact PCBs where board area is at a premium. Surface-mount assembly is standard; the 0.65mm lead pitch is within the capability of most reflow profiles. No exposed thermal pad means the die relies on the leadframe and copper pour for heat spreading — keep the output stage traces wide and connect them to a ground plane pour under the package to keep junction temperature in check during sustained 2W output.
Lifecycle and compliance
The ROHS3 rating covers the full substance restriction list, including the four phthalates — no exemption paperwork needed for EU-market equipment.
