Product details

Class AB stereo headphone driver — 70 mW per channel into 8 Ω

The TPA122DGN is a Texas Instruments Class AB stereo headphone amplifier delivering 70 mW per channel into an 8 Ω load — enough drive for consumer-grade headphones and line-level outputs in portable or fixed audio gear. Operating temperature covers -40°C to 85°C, placing it in the industrial band — suitable for outdoor telecom, automotive cabin, or factory-floor audio signalling.

Protection features and pop suppression

On-chip short-circuit and thermal protection prevent the output stage from failing under a miswired headphone jack or sustained clipping. Depop circuitry suppresses the turn-on/turn-off thump that would otherwise couple into the headphones — no external mute FET or series resistor needed. A shutdown pin lets the system pull the amplifier into low-power idle when audio is not active, saving battery in portable designs.

8-HVSSOP package with exposed thermal pad

Surface-mount assembly with standard reflow profile; the exposed pad adds a low-thermal-resistance path to the board, so the 70 mW output does not push the die past the 85°C ambient ceiling.

ROHS3 compliant, with no exemptions that would block EU or California market entry.
