Product details

Active production — no EOL watch needed

The TPA122D: No NRND flag, no last-time-buy notice — this part is still in standard production and available through authorized distribution.

Class AB stereo amp — 70 mW per channel into 8 Ω

The TPA122D is a Class AB stereo headphone amplifier delivering 70 mW per channel into an 8 Ω load. Class AB topology splits the difference between Class A linearity and Class B efficiency — quiescent current stays low enough for battery-powered portable audio while crossover distortion is suppressed below the hearing threshold.

Depop, short-circuit, thermal — three on-chip safeguards

The TPA122D integrates depop circuitry that suppresses the audible turn-on/turn-off pop when the amplifier bias stabilizes or the shutdown pin toggles. Short-circuit protection limits output current during a fault; thermal shutdown pulls the output stage off if the die temperature exceeds the safe operating limit. A dedicated shutdown pin lets the system microcontroller gate the amplifier supply current to near-zero during idle.

8-SOIC narrow body — standard PCB footprint

Housed in an 8-lead SOIC narrow body (0.154" wide, 3.90 mm body width), the TPA122D uses the same 1.27 mm pitch footprint as hundreds of generic op-amps and audio amplifiers. Supplier device package is 8-SOIC; the tube shipment format suits prototype and low-volume builds — tape-and-reel is the standard alternate for production reflow.
