The 16-channel 12-bit ADC lets you sample three phase currents plus DC bus voltage and auxiliary analog inputs on one chip, which simplifies the bill of materials for a motor drive. CANbus, I²C, SCI, SPI, and UART/USART cover the typical fieldbus and sensor bridge connections. The 35 GPIOs are enough for hall-effect encoder inputs, fault latches, and relay drivers without an external port expander.
