What this C2000 Piccolo MCU brings to a motor-control or power-conversion BOM
The TMS320F28069PZPQ: It is a 32-bit single-core MCU for real-time closed-loop control in automotive and industrial systems.
At 90 MHz the C28x core executes a single-cycle multiply-accumulate.
Memory sizing – 256 KB Flash and 50K x 16 RAM
256 KB of Flash (128K x 16) is sized for a complete motor-control firmware stack including sensorless observer, commutation tables, and CAN-based diagnostics. The 50K x 16 SARAM leaves room for real-time data logging and double-buffered PWM update registers. For applications that exceed internal memory, the connectivity set (CANbus, I²C, McBSP, SCI, SPI, UART/USART) supports external serial Flash or FRAM expansion.
Supply rail and power sequencing
The internal POR and brown-out detect eliminate the need for an external supervisor on the core rail. The exposed pad must connect to the ground plane with a low-inductance path.
For new designs that require AEC-Q100 qualification and a 100-HTQFP package, this part is a safe BOM entry without imminent obsolescence risk.
