90 MHz C28x core — real-time control loop headroom
The C28x DSP architecture handles single-cycle multiply-accumulate, so a 16 kHz current loop with sensor feedback and commutation fits without pushing the core to the edge. 256 KB of flash and 50K x 16 of RAM give enough room for a dual-motor control stack or a power-conversion algorithm with lookup tables and logging buffers.
Peripheral set — CAN, SPI, I2C, and PWM for fieldbus and actuator control
The connectivity block also covers I2C, SPI, SCI, UART/USART, and McBSP, so sensor bridges, external ADCs, and serial displays can be wired directly without glue logic. On-chip peripherals include PWM channels, a watchdog timer, brown-out detection, POR, and DMA — the PWM and ADC can be synchronized in hardware to trigger sampling at the PWM carrier peak, a common pattern in digital power loops.
For new designs or sustaining builds, this means no forced requalification cycle.
