What this C2000 Piccolo brings to a real-time control loop
The TMS320F28069PFPS is a 32-bit C28x core MCU clocked at 90 MHz with 256 KB of Flash program memory and 50K x 16 of RAM. It is built for closed-loop control in motor drives, digital power supplies, and industrial inverters where the math throughput and PWM resolution matter. The 12-channel 12-bit ADC captures current and voltage feedback synchronously with the PWM timers, so the loop closure happens in firmware without an external FPGA. On the connectivity side, the part carries CAN, I2C, SPI, SCI, and UART interfaces, plus McBSP for serial audio or custom protocols. The 40 GPIOs are enough for a three-phase inverter with encoder feedback and a Modbus serial link.
