90 MHz C28x core — real-time control loop anchor
The TMS320F28069PFPQ is a Texas Instruments C28x Piccolo microcontroller built around a 32-bit single-core C28x DSP running at 90 MHz. The 256 KB of Flash and 50K x 16 RAM are enough to run a dual-motor field-oriented control (FOC) stack or a single-axis servo loop with headroom for communications and diagnostics.
The 'Q' suffix in the order code signals AEC-Q100 automotive qualification. Without that copper pour, the 90 MHz core will throttle or the part will exceed its 125°C junction limit in a 105°C ambient.
Peripheral set and I/O allocation
The 12-channel 12-bit ADC is integrated on-chip — no external converter needed for current-sense or voltage-feedback in a motor-drive application.
This is the part to qualify for new automotive designs — not a last-time-buy or NRND situation. The commercial-grade sibling TMS320F28069PZT (0°C to 70°C, no AEC-Q) is a lower-cost option for non-automotive builds, but the PFPQ is the one that passes an automotive PPAP audit.
