The 60 MHz clock rate on the C28x DSP-oriented core gives you about 60 MIPS of signal-processing throughput. That is enough to run a field-oriented control loop for a PMSM motor at a 10–20 kHz PWM rate with margin for commutation, current sensing, and fault handling in software. The 32-bit accumulator and single-cycle MAC keep the math tight without needing an external co-processor. If your algorithm needs more headroom, the sibling F280041PZQR runs at 100 MHz, but the 60 MHz part is the cost-optimized pick for established control laws.

Memory and peripheral fit for automotive control
128 KB of Flash and 10K x 16 of RAM are sized for a single-application firmware image with a modest data buffer. The 16-channel 12-bit ADC can sample three-phase currents, DC bus voltage, and a couple of analog sensor inputs in a single scan group. The CAN and LIN interfaces connect directly to automotive buses; the PWM module with built-in dead-time insertion drives a three-phase inverter without external logic. The 45 I/O pins in the 80-LQFP package give enough GPIO for encoder inputs, relay drivers, and status LEDs.
