60 MHz C28x core — real-time control loop headroom
The TMS320F28027PTT is a 32-bit C2000 C28x Piccolo MCU from Texas Instruments, built for real-time control in motor drives, digital power supplies, and industrial inverters. Its 60 MHz core executes single-cycle multiply-accumulate operations, so a 10 kHz current loop with PI compensator and PWM update fits inside a few microseconds. The 13-channel 12-bit ADC samples three phase currents and a DC-link voltage in one conversion sequence, cutting the sensor bill.
Peripheral set — PWM, comms, and watchdog
On-chip peripherals include PWM channels, a watchdog timer, brown-out reset, and POR.
This removes the last-time-buy risk for new BOMs and allows multi-year production planning. The part is ROHS3 compliant. For a higher-performance alternative within the same Piccolo family, the F280041PZQR runs at 100 MHz, adds CAN and LIN interfaces, and extends the temperature range to 125°C — but at a higher unit cost and with a different package (Tape & Reel).
