What this digital temperature sensor does
The TMP122AIDBVR is a digital local temperature sensor with SPI output and 12-bit resolution.
Accuracy across temperature — the spec that matters
The TMP122AIDBVR specifies ±1.5°C accuracy from -25°C to 85°C, and ±2°C over the full -40°C to 125°C range. That ±2°C worst-case at the hot end is the number to stack into your error budget — the 25°C typical is tighter, but the system must hold at the thermal extremes. For a motor-winding or power-supply thermal trip, this accuracy class is adequate; for medical-grade thermometry, you would look at a higher-grade sensor.
Package and mounting
Housed in a 6-pin SOT-23 surface-mount package, the TMP122AIDBVR takes minimal board area. The SPI bus uses three signals (SCLK, SDI, SDO) plus the open-drain alert output (ALERT). Mounting is standard reflow; no special thermal pad is needed because the sensor measures its own die temperature through the package.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The TMP122AIDBVR is an Active, ROHS3-compliant part from Texas Instruments. No end-of-life notification is in effect.
