AEC-Q100 digital temperature sensor for under-hood and industrial enclosures
Accuracy is specified at ±0.3°C typical at 25°C, with a worst-case ±1°C across the full -40°C to 125°C range. For a system designer stacking error budgets, that ±1°C boundary is the number to use for thermal trip thresholds or compensation algorithms — the 25°C figure is fine for calibration but doesn't hold across temperature.
1.4V to 3.6V supply with one-shot and shutdown modes
The sensor operates from a single 1.4V to 3.6V supply, covering 1.8V and 3.3V logic rails common in automotive ECUs. The one-shot feature lets the firmware command a single conversion and return to shutdown mode, drawing minimal quiescent current between reads — useful for battery-powered modules where every microamp counts. The output switch pin can be configured as a comparator or interrupt output, providing a hardware alert when temperature exceeds a programmable limit without polling the I²C bus. This offloads the host MCU in safety-critical thermal monitoring loops.
SOT-5X3 package and active production status
The SOT-5X3 package (SOT-563/SOT-666 footprint) is a small 6-lead surface-mount package, suitable for space-constrained PCB layouts. Tape & Reel and Cut Tape options are available for procurement flexibility.
