The TM4C1231H6PMIR is a Texas Instruments Tiva C series 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4F microcontroller running at 80 MHz. The hardware floating-point unit (FPU) on the Cortex-M4F core handles single-precision math without software emulation, so a PID loop or FFT step completes in deterministic single-cycle execution — no cycle-counting overhead for filter coefficients or sensor fusion. Program memory is 256 KB of Flash, paired with 32 KB SRAM and 2 KB EEPROM. The 256 KB Flash accommodates a moderate firmware image with a real-time OS, communication stacks, and application logic; the 32 KB SRAM holds runtime variables and a few KB of buffered data for logging or display refresh. The 2 KB EEPROM stores calibration constants and configuration parameters that survive power cycles without external memory. Twelve 12-bit ADC channels sample analog inputs for current sensing, temperature monitoring, or potentiometer feedback.
