The 2 KB EEPROM is the right size for storing calibration tables or last-state recovery data; it avoids the wear-leveling complexity of writing to Flash for these small, frequent updates.
Connectivity and analog front-end
CANbus, I²C, SPI, SSI, UART, and IrDA cover fieldbus and sensor interfaces. The 12-channel 12-bit ADC samples current-sense resistors or thermistor strings.
